Will the client request the same IP address back and if it is still available, receive it?ĭoes the DHCP Server save the MAC address in the table beyond the lease time and reserves the IP address until it runs out of IP addresses and HAS to give it up, or does it just give it up as soon as the lease time expires?
When DHCP leases out an IP address and that device disconnects from the network, is there a time-frame beyond the lease time to which that IP address would still go back to the client? Some of the files didn't work because of IP address changes, which got me wondering. My predecessor set up VNC on all the computers on the network and he created the save files for them, so I was lucky enough to discover them to gain access to all the computers on the network.
